Any idea with what is gaslighting and how it can be possessed by people with personality disorders that includes being too charismatic and manipulative?
I was a witness of gaslighting a few days ago so sharing my story might help you understand it better.
I was walking down the street and I noticed two men walking towards me facing each other when all of a sudden one of the men punched the other in the face.. I was shook to say the least, but I continued getting closer to them. When the abuser noticed me he knew he was in trouble and he started walking faster and talking about how the other man was drunk (I could tell that he obviously wasn't) and how he should "leave him alone". With this he basically tried to mold my reality and manipulate aka gaslight me into thinking that he was the victim in the situation. I just continued walking and passed them by, but I wanted to see what was going on so I turned around and saw the abuser staring at me (I guess he was trying to figure out if I was gonna do anything). The fact that I looked back scared him and he started gaslighting the other guy by telling him how I was calling the police when I clearly didn't even have my phone out. He also started loudly shaming the victim for the situation so that I would hear that he wasn't the one to blame.. and the other man was submissive and apologetic which was just heartbreaking.
Hope this illustrated how gaslighting was used by the abuser in an attempt to control the situation.
