We know that marihuana is legal in lots of places and in up to 11 states in USA. But does marihuana have important effect on schizophrenia? It is a substance with hallucinogens effects. I recently watched a video about this and I will attach the link. Does anybody know the scientific answer to this?

I have also seen, both in research and in my own clinical work, the increased risk of schizophrenia @Isreal.O and @Nina M. mentioned. Although most research shows the increased risk to be small, it's significant. Many of the individuals with schizophrenia who I interview have told me that they felt smoking marijuana increased their feelings of paranoia. However, in some cases the individuals have told me it made them feel more relaxed. Part of it will depend on the potency of the marijuana they are using. Some synthetic versions can be quite harmful.
Hi there,
Schizophrenia is a serious mental health condition. Symptoms can result in dangerous and at times self-destructive behaviors that can negatively impact your day-to-day life.
Taking marijuana as a form of self medication can practically double the symptoms and even worsen the situation.
I hope this helps.
Hey :) Everything I can find online indicates that marijuana can actually double the risk of developing schizophrenia in the future... Especially when it comes to high potency THC.
Anyway, there's still not enough research on this I believe... hope my answer helps :)
