It is definitely very difficult to maintain good mental health while in an unhealthy or toxic environment. I tend to think focusing on oneself and the things that one can change is helpful in those situations.
I've been there. So I know we can easily get into the "victim mentality" and postpone, delay stuff that we know we need to do and make us feel good just because of the "unhealthy environment". Yeah it's not easy and if possible changing the environment would be a really good thing. But it's not always possible, so then we can start asking ourselves better questions like: what can I learn from this, what behavior do I never want to mirror out of this situation, what is it that I can do to make my future better? That way we can redirect our focus and start looking for the brighter side of all of it and focus on finding solutions and other pathways.
You may find so many tips over the internet, but whether those tips help or not is uncertain. The core answer is to not let that negative energy get to you and keep your aura clean. The most effective way to do so is through meditation!
