People who are unhappy about their existence are likely to engage in self-destructive behaviors. They’ve probably been through so much that they are now at a point where their mental health can’t take it anymore. In that state, it’s easy to act out without really thinking about the consequences. Engaging in self-destructive behaviors could be a coping mechanism developed to help deal with negative emotions, anger and frustration but it’s still a negative approach and it’s not the best way to handle such a situation. To help combat such behaviors, a psychologist would help the person find a better and effective way to deal with their issues.
