I am going to share a curiosity here. How do you feel when you are worrying that you might have any kind of mental disorder?
I usually try to read reliable sources. I would do literature reviews so I could understand how others would experience similar situations. Definitely, I avoid diagnosing myself. I think that I might have this disorder but I also can miss it unless this causes distress to me and the people around me. Lastly, I can seek professional help if I need it.
I had a very similar experience to @ViktorijaT in that I too found out about a disorder and it resonated with me. I kept looking it up (reliable sources like you said) and then went to both my doctor and a therapist. They were incredible and put me in touch with several resources that have really helped me in my day to day life.
I wouldn't say to avoid looking these things up because in some cases, identifying it and getting treatment can be really helpful to you. However, I'd ere on the side of caution if you notice yourself obsessively thinking about it or diagnosing yourself. If you think that there are disorders that sound similar to what you're experiencing, please contact a health professional because at the very least they can put your mind at rest and at the best, you can get help with these symptoms. Even if you don't feel like you need the help, it could be impacting you more than you realise and they can give you an objective assessment of the situation.
Good luck and I hope you're okay.
Two points to bear in mind when studying diagnoses: One is that most diagnoses include the criterion that the condition interfere with one's normal functioning. Second, if you can identify with more than four diagnoses, you are probably a fairly normal human being, and even if you face circumstances that trigger a vulnerability, for example, you are drafted to fight a war and have to draw on your psychopathic potentials, it is only if you become stuck in that defense that your condition would be problematic and require treatment.
In my opinion it's good that you're getting educated about it while also not jumping to conclusions. I'd say find a way to tackle it and don't let this disorder get in the way of living a happy and healthy life. Maybe getting diagnosed will help you start working on it, but it's up to you.
I've had an experience like this very recently where I accidentally found this video about a disorder I had no clue about and long story short, it really sounds like I do have it. I was in shock and a little scared, but at the same time I felt validated. I started searching up more information and I made the decision to start going to therapy in June.
All in all, my behavior makes much more sense to me now and I'm thankful I'm fortunate enough to get professional help.
