War is often a undertaking featuring both horror and episodes of incredible bravery. What makes this Ukrainian and Russian war so different is the proliferation of social media and the ubiquitous nature of news of the war.
Everything seems so much more connected now that social media connects us with images and videos of the visceral nature of the war. However, this comes at a price when misinformation also hounds social media.
It's incredibly important to get one's main sources of news from reputable sources and journalists.
There has also been a level of fear that I haven't seen in a while. I think that more than ever people need to immerse themselves not only within the seas of information about the war, but to balance this with a refleciton of the beauty of human endeavour. The Sistine chapel, fine literature, the music of Mozart has never been so needed as it is now.
The level of noise has reached an all time high, and thus each of us need to achieve a certain level of equalibrium through the pursuits of kinship. Only by doing so will we be able to turn our attention to the issues of those people whose entire lives are at stake not only within the Ukraine but also Russia. For war hurts not only the invaded, but also the lives of those just wanting to live peacefully withint he country which is invading.
I am in awe of peoples heroic acts, particularly the president who was offered a way out and chose to stay and fight with his people. I am hearing beautiful stories, sad stories, horror stories, war is certainly an interesting discussion and topic in general for how war challenges our sense of being so connected, yet so disconnected on this fragile earth....
It's sad that of all the things that could destroy earth, an astroid or some other catasphrophic event, it's going to be a stupid human. How lame and sad is that.
@Eve Fritz It is really sad.. I live in Romania, which has lots of borders with Ukraine.
We started helping the refugees with homes, transport and food. The sadness is overwhelming because you see women with children and pets who don’t know what to do amd where to go.
@Iulia Vulcu it's sad to hear. Although war is effecting all countries around the globe. But the problem is that we as a society gives zero concerns when threat is not directly effecting us.
I concur with Eve.
