Do you think that healing your spirit helps you heal a disfunctional mind? How are these two linked?
“The distinction between mind, body, and soul isn't a strict one. For example, where do emotions sit? We feel them in the body, mind, and soul. From a scientific perspective, we know how deeply connected these three dimensions are — that's kind of the point. You can think of them as being connected by the nervous system, or understand the nervous system to be part of the mind.”

Mental health is linked to our mind, body and soul. My belief is that our role is to heal the essence (soul) and the body-mind will follow. I think spiritual practices are importanta in our daily lifes well-being.
We are so close to having spiritual aspect added to the definition of psychology. Spirit isn't an unscientific phenomenon anymore. Its existence is proven by the rules of physics. In fact, it is our spiritual state that determines our mental and emotional state. Robin Sharma's book called 'synchrodestiny' defines this spirit and mind connection so beautifully.
I agree. A spiritual path, one that focuses on a higher power or Self as a general guide when trouble ensues is an excellent way to live out ones day and tasks and helps keep one sober and not glum. I am constantly trying to find that "zen" space at my job. That place where everything is an opportunity and a chance to learn and grow and when old neuronal pathways creep in I can direct them into a calmer way of thinking about things instead of reacting to the circumstances that happen around me. I am learning to work WITH what I have and fly by the seat of my pants and go with the flow more and trust in the process more instead of controlling everything in life. Taking time to take a few breathes and connect with something spiritual, and it can be as simple as being aware while you drink your tea, of your senses and practicing Self-Care. When you bring your awareness to your breath and check in with yourself and your higher Self or higher power you remember what's important and you relax because you are in the moment and not distracted by the future or monkey mind as they call it in yoga.
