On the face of it, that quote should be very easy to put into practice, but in reality you very rarely see people practice it.
We often assume someone is being rude due to it being part of their personality, but in actual fact as, as your quote points out there could be any number of reasons for that person's demeanour.
I find these sorts of quotes are much easier to put into practice with people we know, the challenge is to allow that benevolence to spread to strangers as well as family and friends. Brilliant share and timely advice.
There's so many that come to mind. But perhaps one of the most powerful quotes now come to mind whenever I'm in conversation:"I rejoice at the privilege of being a midwife to a new personality — as I stand by with awe at the emergence of a self, a person, as I see a birth process in which I have had an important and facilitating part." - Carl RogersWhat's yours?
@Daniel Sumner Mine is by Sylvia Palths quote; it's little bleak but it's my favourite right now.
"I wish I knew what to do with my life, what to do with my heart…I do nothing all day, boredom settles in, I look at the sky so I get to feel even smaller than I already feel and my mind keeps poisoning itself uselessly."
@ayesha naymat I like that quote just fine. I don't think that's what makes a great quote is speaking to ourselves as if the author was speaking to us all the time.
My favorite quote in this period is "Be Kind For Everyone You Meet Is Fighting A Hard Battle". It should be like a guiding light for more people.
