Greetings everyone!
I have this question in my mind about what kind of protocol is followed when a forensic psychologist comes to know that a person is faking a mental illness.
Also, what are some giveaway signs that help the psychologist in detecting a case of malingering?
I can't really give too much information as far as the specifics (given we generally try not to disclose that sort of information publicly online where others can use this information for their own purposes). A few basic ways, generally speaking, are psychological tests specifically designed to assess for feigned or exaggerated mental health problems, consideration of consistency across time and sources of information, consistency between reported symptoms and presentation with genuine mental health disorders, and the presence of common malingering strategies.
