I just saw this article today: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/30/us/white-house-hit-list-kuachua-brillion-xiong.html
This individual was reportedly driving across the US to kill numerous high profile individuals and was heading to the White House. As a quick excerpt, "Mr. Xiong told investigators that if he had not been pulled over, he would have continued traveling as part of his plan, which he said was a mission from God to 'combat evil demons in the White House.' Mr. Xiong told investigators that he 'believes that he is the only person remaining who can free the United States of evil.'" His attorney plans to plead insanity on behalf of his client.
No news of psychological evaluation, however, the case had some progress, here's a news article I found:
https://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2022/01/27/sacramento-man-accused-of-plot-to-kill-biden-harris/
Here's a statement from Attorney Charles Magill who's working on this case:
“I think his mental health is going to play a part in this,” said Magill. “I think it’s going to be very obvious that his mental health is going to be a very big issue if he could carry out these threats or not, but he had the means, the ability, the weapons to carry out the threats he was making.”
One article I saw on this read, "The complaint, initially sealed by the court, includes a report from the sergeant who said Xiong allegedly began talking about his 'disapproval for the government due to the sex abuse of children, some of which that has occurred by president Biden.'" I wonder if this man had been reading QAnon related materials on the internet.
Interesting case to follow. However, I don't think you can be on a mission to murder people and be completely mentally sane at the same time. Regardless of what his religious beliefs are, that's just something a normal person wouldn't do. I'm curious to see how this will unfold, let's post updates here once they're available.
I doubt Mr. Xiong is insane. It looks like his actions were influenced by his religious beliefs. It seems he knew exactly what he was doing and it was intentional. He didn’t experience a psychotic episode. Trying to kill all those people is a crazy and idiotic thing to do but no, he’s not insane. But considering that his case is debatable, his lawyer still stands a chance. I’d like to read other people’s opinion on this though.
